Long Serrated Knife

A long serrated knife is the most efficient tool for cutting the butter, dividing the scone dough into individual scones, and transferring each scone to your baking sheet. The blade should be at least 10″-12″ to be able to divide 7″-8″ dough and topping circles. The serrated edge keeps sharp.

TIP: Make sure to only apply downward pressure with the knife when dividing the dough or toppings on a silicone mat. Do not use a slicing motion as this will cut through a silicone mat.

You most likely already have a long serrated knife in your kitchen. It’s a go to tool for slicing bread and meats. If you don’t already have one, you can find them at any cooking store, online, or on Amazon [affiliate link*].
