No One Says No To A Scone

A heavenly scone with a cup of coffee is that little oasis we all need in the chaos of the day. But the best thing about scones is how they bring people together. No one says no to a scone.

When you offer someone a scone, you invite them to join you in a moment of warmth and comfort. You show them you care and want to share something special with them.

Scones open conversations and connections. You and your children share your lives over jelly ring scones and milk. Biscotti scones and sambuca-infused espresso bring hours of reminiscing with old friends.

American Scones

American scones differ from their Scottish/British/Irish cousins. They’re usually triangular shaped, moister, sweater, and come in lots of delicious flavors. With a consistency somewhere between cake and cookie, American scones are lighter than their cousins and have a little crunch. Like their cousins, they’re great with tea or coffee.

Some American scone flavors are great with wine or liqueur and can even be topped with them.

The Secret To Perfect Scones

Making perfect scones every time is easier than you might think. The secret is to combine the wet and dry ingredients so that the dry ingredients are moist but not clumpy. You do this by stirring small thin lines of the liquid into the dry ingredients with the tines of a large fork. It takes five to ten minutes to ensure there are no clumps bigger than a pea.

Each of my recipes has step by step videos on how to make the scones, including how to combine the wet and dry ingredients for perfect scones.
